Changing width and height independently can distort a photo when the new aspect ratio differs from the original. Crop to the desired ratio in the advanced editor first. A square output from a tall portrait needs a crop, not a stretched face.
A 600 × 600 image has a fixed number of pixels. Printed at 300 pixels per inch it measures 2 × 2 inches; printed at another scale it changes physical size. Its file size also depends on format and compression. Use the passport tool for physical dimensions and a print PDF, or compress the image for a KB limit.
